How to play
Corners — уголки in Russian — is a race on a chess board. Each side starts with twelve pieces in its corner and wins by moving all of them into the other's.
The board
An 8×8 board. White's twelve pieces start on a1–d3, Black's on e6–h8. White moves first.
A step
A piece moves one square along a rank or a file — never diagonally — onto an empty square.
A jump, and a chain of jumps
A piece jumps over an adjacent piece of either colour onto the empty square beyond. Nothing is captured. After a jump the same piece may jump again, in any direction, and stop whenever it likes. A move is a step or jumps, never both.
The goal
Fill the opposite corner — the other side's starting squares — with all twelve of your pieces.
Black may answer
When White fills the corner, Black has one more move: filling its own corner with it draws the game, otherwise White wins. When Black fills its corner first, Black wins.
Leave home in time
A side with a piece still in its own corner after its 40th move loses.
The limit
A game nobody has won after 80 moves each is drawn. A side with no move passes.
